Wrexham AFC takes on Grimsby Town in the highly-anticipated National Championship play-off semi-final at Racecourse this Saturday (starting at 12:30pm). The Dragons entered the match as favorites but their opponents entered the match with confidence after their win over Notts County to secure a place in the semi-finals.
Dragons went straight to a semi-final at home after finishing runner-up Stockport County in the tournament. The Mariners overcame Notts County 2-1 after extra time on Monday to reach this round.
Before this weekend’s game, North Wales Live spoke to a number of Grimsby Town fans – most of them in a confident mood. 1,200 Mariners fans are expected to make the trip to North Wales, with both the home and away sections already sold out.
Wrexham is clearly a strong candidate to advance to the play-off final, with most bookies offering 1/2 on the Dragons win, with Grimsby at 9/2. The winners of Saturday’s clash will face Chesterfield or Solihull Moors in the final at London Stadium on June 5.
Here are some responses from Grimsby fans when asked for their thoughts ahead of Saturday’s game:
Jord Smith said: “We have nothing to lose, the pressure is on Wrexham. Town 1-0.”
