Wrexham AFC v Grimsby Town: Mariners fans in a confident mood ahead of league semi-final second leg

Wrexham AFC takes on Grimsby Town in the highly-anticipated National Championship play-off semi-final at Racecourse this Saturday (starting at 12:30pm). The Dragons entered the match as favorites but their opponents entered the match with confidence after their win over Notts County to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Dragons went straight to a semi-final at home after finishing runner-up Stockport County in the tournament. The Mariners overcame Notts County 2-1 after extra time on Monday to reach this round.

Before this weekend’s game, North Wales Live spoke to a number of Grimsby Town fans – most of them in a confident mood. 1,200 Mariners fans are expected to make the trip to North Wales, with both the home and away sections already sold out.

Wrexham is clearly a strong candidate to advance to the play-off final, with most bookies offering 1/2 on the Dragons win, with Grimsby at 9/2. The winners of Saturday’s clash will face Chesterfield or Solihull Moors in the final at London Stadium on June 5.
